Acer Nitro 5 Gaming Laptop Review

Acer’s Nitro 5 is set apart from other mainstream laptops by unique design elements and solid-state storage as standard. The laptop’s lid comes in an attractive black brushed metal finish with an eye-catching backlit Acer logo that glows red when the system is powered on or off. Meanwhile, its interior sports a textured pattern that gives the keyboard deck a more upscale look over some competitors’ all-black designs.

In this Acer nitro 5 gaming laptop review, we will go over the features that make this machine a top-choice in the list of best budget gaming laptops on the market.

The Acer Nitro 5 gaming laptop design is all about having the right tools for the job.

Design

If you have used one of Acer’s laptops, you will not be surprised by the Nitro laptop design and features. From detailed inspections, you’d notice the machine’s angled base, its jutting lines positioned on the lid, and the red air vents. All these are what make the Acer laptop stand out. It also features an eye-catching black brushed metal chassis with contrasting stitching for a high-end look that goes well with your game.

The Acer Nitro 5 gaming laptop design is all about having the right tools for the job. With the latest Intel Core processors, loads of storage and memory, extended battery life, and support for Xbox Play Anywhere digital game streaming, this laptop is perfect for gaming on the go.  The weight of the Acer is about 2.7kg and 25mm thick, which makes it sturdier and thicker than most gaming P.C.s.

Ports

The Nitro 5 comes with three sizable USB 3 ports, with one having 10Gbps. The 10Gbps USB-C port is also available, but one drawback is that it doesn’t support DisplayPort or power delivery, which would make the user use the connector less. More ports included are the Gigabit Ethernet, HDMI, and audio connectors, and also, a dual-band Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth are located internally.

The Nitro 5 is a solid choice, as mainstream gaming and computing would be more accessible with its ports and connectivity. Unfortunately, the webcam doesn’t support Windows Hello face recognition, and neither is there a fingerprint reader or a card reader.

Keyboard

The 15.6inch laptop comes packed with a full-sized keyboard and features a good layout, including a number pad. For customization, the four-zone (RGB LED) lighting functions correctly.

The keyboard features good performance, too. The keyboard allows for extended gaming time because of its fast, comfortable, and simple buttons. But for people who prefer a clicky pad, this keyboard might not be appealing to them.

Screen/Audio

The 15.6inch display features a resolution of 1920 x 1080 resolution plus a refresh rate of 144Hz. Due to the absence of the Nvidia G-Sync, some minor tears may be seen, but it is sure to stay minor as it would not result in a big or standard issue. Maximally, this laptop display is perfect for mainstreams, gaming, and much more. To get greater syncing or top refresh rates, you would have to spend more.

The audio kit is not so impressive for gaming enthusiasts who love good background sounds. The speakers are low, they lack the bass, and the rest of their output is incomprehensible. While gaming, we recommend  using a headset for optimal experience.
