The Amazon Echo Buds were unveiled in the 2019 fall and cost $130 at the launch. The buds are most comfortable to set up and use. If a user has the Alexa app installed and opened their phone, they will lift the earbuds’ case lid, and blue light would flash. A pop-up dialogue would appear on the app to guide the user to the setup process in a couple of minutes.
The Echo buds fit snugly and comfortably on the ears and have super-responsive touch controls. The default setting for tapping the buds alternates between Active Noise Reduction and Passthrough mode. Additionally, with the Echo Buds settings in the Alexa app, users can also decide which earbud they want to control features like media playback and play/pause, or mute microphone, or skip audio tracks. On the charging front, Amazon stated that the Echo Buds should give around 4-5 hours on a single charge, and up to 20 hours with the case. Though the earbuds are not quite fast charging, users can top up the buds and get about two hours of extra battery life in only 20 minutes. The Echo Buds Amazon case is made of hard matte black plastic and comes with a micro USB charging port and cable.
The conversations, audiobooks, podcasts, and music files sound great on the wireless Echo Buds. The only off-track is the Alexa sound on the earbuds as the voice comes out faint. Amazon Echo Buds also has a good Echo Buds noise-canceling feature and allows the user to invoke the default smart assistant on their phones (through Google Assistant or Siri) by pressing any of the buds for a few seconds.
