Would you like to know how to use Airdrop? Airdrop is a built-in feature on iPhones that lets you wirelessly transfer files between Apple devices, including the iPhone, iPad or Mac. This process can be helpful if someone sends you something and they’re nearby with their iOS device.
Airdrop works by sending information through the air using Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, so it doesn’t use cellular data nor requires any internet connection. As a result, airdrop is one of the most valuable features on any Apple device.
If you are not familiar with it, learn how to use Airdrop on iPhone here. A few simple steps may help transfer files between devices in no time at all! In this article, we will look at the steps required for using AirDrop on your iPhone.

Airdrop is helpful if you want to receive something from the nearby devices – learn how?
Before You Start
Go into your settings and choose General, then tap on “AirDrop.” Here, you have two options: Off or Contacts Only/Everyone. For now, we are going to select “Contacts Only” as it’s generally safer when you only want to share between users who have shared their contact information before sending something through Airdrop. In this case, they must both accept each other as friends first to send items back and forth wirelessly. This act also limits strangers from accessing sensitive files sent via Airdrop if someone else lurks nearby trying to grab them.
How to use Airdrop
Step One: Turn it on!
You’ll find the feature in your settings (tap Settings > General > AirDrop) and should be turned “On” by default.
Step Two:
Make yourself discoverable to others by selecting “Everyone” or contacts with whom you want to share files.
Remember that the latter option only works if they are in your Contacts list, so be sure not to choose this until they have already accepted to be included on their end.
If not, select who you can share with from the list displayed under “Allow me to be discovered by:” and then tap ‘Next.’
You will only see this menu if no nearby device is found that supports AirDrop yet or another reason why both parties cannot use the AirDrop.
Step Three: Accept The Transfer!
If you are using AirDrop for the first time, you will need to tap “Accept” to confirm. You can also use your iPhone or iPad camera as a visual aid by pointing it at the person trying to share something with you- this works great if both parties have their cameras on and ready.
Step Four: Save
Once an image has been sent over, click ‘Save’ (or do nothing) depending on whether or not you want it saved onto your device’s Photos app.
Step Five: Enjoy The File!
The received file should appear in your Photos app, allowing you to view it and open it whenever necessary.
Note that if you have the receiver’s contact saved on your phone, an image with their name will suffice, but a name without an image would show if the contact is not saved.
Accepting an Airdrop
When a file is shared with you using Airdrop, you will receive a notification alongside a preview of what is shared. Then, you can either click on Accept or Decline.
If you accept, the AirDrop will come in through the same app from which it was sent. So, for example, audios appear in the audio app, and photos open in the photo app. So now, if you are to AirDrop something to yourself, like a photo from your iPhone to your Mac book, you won’t see an option notifying you to accept or decline; instead, it’ll automatically get sent to your device. However, you’d want to ensure you have the same Apple ID signed in on both devices.
