The iPhone 13 is official! Apple executives took to the stage to announce the new flagship iPhone lineup at a pre-recorded event streamed Tuesday (Sep. 14). Like the last year’s model, the new iPhone 13 will come in four different designs, with prices starting from $700 to $1,100.
The iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max are the Cupertino, California-based company’s newest high-end pro-level flagship models and are being sold along with the more affordable iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini. The newest Apple iPhones are ideal for folks who are looking for feature-intensive smartphones.
The 6.1-inch iPhone 13 Pro is the successor to the iPhone 12 Pro. The 6.7-inch iPhone 13 Pro Max is the replacement for the iPhone 12 Pro Max. The latest iPhone 13 Pro models are nearly identical in design to the iPhone 12 Pro models, featuring flat edges, a textured matte glass back, a stainless steel frame, and a slight increase in thickness by 7.65mm. The iPhone 13 Pro are available in Silver, Gold, Sierra Blue, and Graphite.

iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini holds the all-new A15 Bionic chip.
The iPhone 13’s outer body has a similar look to the previous year’s model. One major change is with the diagonal arrangement of the cameras in the base model. This year, Apple is reducing the size of the front display notch by 20 percent. The front display notch is where all Face ID sensors are generally placed.
The new display in the iPhone 13 base model is branded “Super Retina XDR” and is 28 percent brighter at 800 nits. It comes in 5.4-inch and 6.1-inch sizes.
Inside the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini you’ll find the all-new A15 Bionic chip. It features a 6-core CPU with two high-performance and four high-efficiency cores. You’ll also find a new 16-core Neural Engine embedded into the A15 Bionic chip. The engine is capable of 15.8 trillion operations per second.
On the back of the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini is an advanced dual-camera system. The wide 12MP sensor allows for 47% more light and a 26mm focal length. On the Ultra Wide camera you’ll find a unique sensor-shift technology from the “Pro” iPhones.
Apple is also introducing “Cinematic mode,” which relies on A15 to automatically blur the background during a video. This allows the subject to stay in focus. One can tap on different subjects to shift focus during filming.
The iPhone 12, the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini features Ceramic Shield, IP68 water resistance, and five new colors, including blue, pink, midnight, starlight, and red.
The iPhone 13 mini starts at $699 with 128GB of base storage. The iPhone 13 starts at $799. The latest iPhone 13 models are available for pre-orders on Friday, Sep. 17, and will begin shipping on Sep. 24.
