Apple launched the MacBook Air M1, 2020, that discarded the Intel processor for its ARM chip, Apple M1. Apple claims that this ARM chip would increase the latest MacBook Air’s performance and offer longer battery life, among other great benefits.
Apple eliminated the MacBook Air of Intel processors from its website and replaced it with M1 MacBook Air that starts from Rs. 92,900. This model offers 8GB RAM, 256 GB storage, and 7 Core GPU. The second variant of MacBook Air offers 8 core GPU, 8 GB RAM, and 512 GB storage at Rs. 1, 17, 900. The storage and RAM can be configured and expanded during checkout. However, it can’t be upgraded later. Apple MacBook Air M1, 2020 comes in three colors – Silver, Gold, and Space Grey.
MacBook Air’s design is the same as MacBook Air Retina’s design, and the weight and dimensions of both the models are also the same. Two USB Type-C ports are located on the MacBook’s left and a headphone jack on the other side. USB 4 or Thunderbolt is supported by the Type-C ports that enable high-speed data transfer, quick charging, and connections for up to 6K display. The MacBook Air features a Retina display of 13.3 inches with 2,560×1,600 resolution, including the brightness of 400 nits. Apple supports DCI-P3 vast color gamut, which offers the users great flexibility in tasks of color grading.
The trackpad, palm rest area, and keyboard layout are the same as the Intel MacBook. It has cut-outs of the stereo speaker on both sides of the keyboard, and it also features the enhancement of Dolby Atmos. MacBook Air’s Force Touch trackpad is layered with a glass that works excellent, and its scissor mechanism keys offer smooth typing. Few changes have been made to the keys of the MacBook. The function keys F4, F5, and F6 used in the previous model for brightness adjustment and launchpad are now used as shortcuts for do not disturb, dictation, and spotlight search.
The performance of the Apple MacBook Air M1, 2020, is impressive. The M1 chip can instantly boot up the MacBook, and its vast Sur is quick and responsive. The clutter is also less here, which makes it look a lot neater and easy to use. All applications that run on Intel processor MacBooks work brilliantly on the latest MacBook Air M1. Apple’s software Rosetta 2 tool enables the applications to work correctly on the new architecture. You can now run the Mac apps on the MacBook, but using the M1 chip also allows you to run any iOS app and games as well. This brings a wide variety of latest tools that are quite interesting.
According to Apple, the latest MacBook Air is three times faster in its class compared to various other laptops. It also claims that the neural engine is nine times faster than that of the previous MacBook Air. Its SSD is also two times faster due to the M1 chip and flash technology.
