Somabar, the robotic bartender has won the best innovation award for home appliances at CES 2016. This machine is the latest when it comes to bartending technology.
There is nothing better than having an amazing cocktail night with your friends at your own home, but making them is a pain. You might have all the stuff like a recipe book, cocktail shaker, jigger, twisted bar spoon, strainer, and a mixing glass, but you might lack the experience of making a well-crafted cocktail. Well, Somabar can do that for you instead. It will serve you with the cocktail of your choice and all you need to do is click a button.
Somabar Robotic Bartender review
This automated bartending appliance will allow you to place your “order” from the accompanying Smartphone app. Then, the machine will mix the required ingredients thoroughly and will pour it in your cocktail glass. It will also infuse bitter directly into the cocktail. It cleans the system after making every drink by flushing water so that each drink is pure and does not contain mix flavours.
This machine has a design that will be suitable for your kitchen counter or your home bar. It has space for 3 soma pods that are 750ml plastic cylinders, on either side. These soma pods are removable, dishwasher-safe and can be easily placed in the refrigerator for chilling. There is also a refillable 150ml bitter pod that is at the top of the machine which looks like a large silver button. The machine comes with the following features:
- IOT functionality
- Accompanying app
- Menu with more than 300 drinks
- Wi-Fi connectivity
- Automated cleaning
- Automated detection of ingredients
- Let you upload and download your cocktails
This machine can also suggest you some drinks based on the ingredients available, and may also notify you if you are missing some required ingredient. And as soon as you order your cocktail, the machine starts pumping accurate ingredients from the soma pods and mixes them well before dispensing the drink into the glass. It also lets you select the strength of your drink, from strong to moderate, and mild.
This machine works wonders as a kitchen appliance with its self-cleaning and minimal system. However, there are few limitations when we consider this robotic bartender as a replacement of a human. It cannot shake or stir your drink, it can simply provide you with a mixed drink in the name of a well-crafted cocktail. You will not be served with a chilled drink unless you place the soma pods in the refrigerator in advance. And surely, you will not find any cherries on top, or dusting of cinnamon or nutmeg, no egg white froths, and surely it won’t talk you through a breakup.
Somabar is expected to be available by July 2016 and will be cost you $430 for your personalized bartender.
