Kodi is referred to as a free source and multimedia player. Just like all our streaming services, it has been around for a while now. The difference between Kodi and other streaming services is that you get to use it to stream content for free without any subscription fees. As long as you have a strong internet connection, then you have the ability to use it to the fullest.

Kodi can be used to stream videos, music, movies, sports, and overall entertainment. The good thing is that you can easily install it on any device because it works with almost all operating systems like Windows OS, iOS, Android OS, and so much more.

You can also install it on a Chromebook using different methods without any hassle. You can do so by getting it from the Kodi Play Store or sideloading the application, all depending on your Chromebook’s operating system. Let’s break down the steps for each of these.

How to install Kodi on a Chromebook from the Google Play Store

This option works best for Chrome books that were developed from 2019 to this current year since most of them have an Android application and we can easily get the Play Store from this. For users whose Chromebook is compatible but whose Play Store is not yet enabled, you can simply do so by locating settings. Then, navigate and click on the menu and tap the option “Google Play Store.” After this, select “turn on” to enable it and then install it.

After you have the Google Play Store, you can proceed to install Kodi. Firstly, you will have to navigate to the Play Store and type in “Kodi” in your search bar and go ahead to install it as prompted. Next, you will have to open the application and set it up. It can now be used to stream all your media content.

How to install Kodi on Chromebook without the Google Playstore

This method is for users whose Chrome books are the older versions developed before 2019. For this method, you will have to side load the application instead and use it. There are two methods that can be used to do this:

Using Kodi Chrome extension

You will need to download an APK file from trusted sites like APK Mirror. You can do this by visiting the site and downloading it. After this, navigate to and open the Chrome app on your Chromebook. Next, click on the menu represented by three dots and navigate and select “More tools.” Next, select the extension from the menu provided, then enable the developer mode. Select the option “Load unpacked.” Now, you will click on the APK file that was initially downloaded. After this, the Kodi extension will be created and you can go ahead and use it to stream all your entertainment sources.

Using ARC Welder

This also involves the download of an APK file from APK mirror by visiting the site. After this, you have to confirm that your Chromebook operating system is updated to the latest version. Next, navigate and open your Chrome app and visit the web store. Then, search for and download the ARC welder. After that install the application. To use the initially downloaded APK file, you will have to open the ARC welder and select the add files option represented by a “+.” Next, navigate and click on the APK file that was initially downloaded and open it. From the prompted options provided, select your landscape as “orientation” and your form factor as “tablet.” You can now test it out. The multimedia application is ready for streaming.

Conclusion

Kodi is an amazing free application for anyone to stream all their favorite content. You can now easily download and install the application on your Chromebook without any hassle.
