Fitness is not confined to adults; everyone deserves to have a device that can measure steps, burned calories, distance covered, sleep, and active minutes, on the least scale. Wondering how your kids would look with your wearable? There’s no point! Garmin Vivofit Jr. got the job. It’s a stylish fitness tracking wearable designed for children that can help you track your child’s activity.

Built with a one year + battery life, you don’t need to worry about charging the device. It’s totally kid-friendly, durable, and designed to fit comfortably on your kid’s wrist. Garmin Vivofit Jr. can track sleep, steps and recommended daily activity. It comes with a compatible app (freeware) for parent-control which includes behavior management, fun, and mobile adventures that are educational. Vivofit Jr. has a target feature where kids earn coins that can be redeemed with real gifts from their parents (your choice).

The device’s compatibility app which can be controlled using a Smartphone allows parents to monitor their kids as they make every step while active and completing assigned chores. With the compatible app, parents can add multiple children and monitor their activities once synchronized. You can also find out the rewards earned by each child using the app.

Design and Specs

Vivofit Jr. is designed with a durable stretchy or adjustable band which is very comfortable and can be slipped on and off by kids. The stretchy bands are for children between 4 and 7 years old, while the adjustable bands are aimed at kids of 6 years and above. Knowing that children are very much selective when it comes to colors and designs, the device has multiple vibrant designs. This means there’s always a super choice for every child for a maximum fun and to rock the Vivofit at various events, even to the bed. Additional size accessory bands are also available if your kid wants to change the look of their Vivofit Jr. completely.

Garmin Vivofit Jr. has two editions; the Vivofit Jr. 1 and the Vivofit Jr. 2 (new release). The later release has additional features missing in Jr. 1. These include –

  • Two alarms (only one is available on Vivofit Jr. 1)
  • Reminder alerts (up to 8)
  • Toe-to-Toe Challenge
  • Color screen
  • Customizable Disney step icons

How to setup Vivofit Jr

Setting up the device requires you to install the compatible app. The device does not work with the regular Garmin Connect Mobile app but the Vivofit Jr. app. Once you are done with the app installation, you’ll need to create a family in the app. Your family circle on Vivofit Jr. app is extendable; you can invite someone else to join in managing the kids, invited persons will also need the app on their phone to have access just like you are doing.

The next step is to add the device to the app. This is done by holding down the device button for about 5 seconds to activate the pairing mode. You should be able to see the device in the app if the Bluetooth of your Smartphone is turned on. Create a child in the family created for the device and set the child’s age, name, sleeping hours and gender.

The price of Garmin Vivofit Jr. is between $69.99 and $79.99 for both editions, depending on where you are buying from.
