On 24 March, Gigabyte unveiled its New Brix Extreme Mini-PC with the New 12th Gen Intel Core Mobile Processor. It will launch in the second half of 2022.

The Quiet Beast

The small, compact computer (44 x 134 x139 mm) comes packed with great power. The new Intel Core design significantly boosts the performance of these processors because of a hybrid design that gives a superior single-threaded and multi-threaded performance. The 12th Gen Core Mobile CPUs are available in Core i3, Core i5, and Core i7 processors. These processors are the mobile versions of Alder Lake lineup and offer up to 12 cores.

The 2022 Brix Extreme is integrated with four display outputs that include HDMI 2.1, USB 4, 2.5 G Ethernet, and the latest Wi-Fi 6E configuration which optimizes it for gaming and content creation. The Wi-Fi 6E makes it an incredibly fast machine, and paired with the 2.5G Ethernet design it highly reduces the chance for disconnections allowing one to work smoothly and providing network flexibility. It is also equipped with the latest HDMI 2.1 technology that can deliver resolutions as high as 8K to one’s device or TV, leaving one in awe of the stunning image quality. An outstanding graphics performance and DDR4 memory speeds up to 3200MH make it a giant amongst its rivals.

The TPM module secures the Gigabyte New Brix Extreme hardware and secures the system.

In comparison to the 11th Gen Intel Core, the CPU features a 24% increase in performance while the GPU has over 10%. The integrated Trusted Platform Module (TPM) secures the new BRIX hardware and protects the system from data leakages.

When combined with a VESA bracket, BRIX can be mounted behind a monitor to deliver superior quality work in one’s field of interest. After a host of precision thermal, firmware, hardware design, and other tests were conducted, it was determined that the Brix 2022 is one of the quietest top performers.

In a written statement, the company admits that the “all new 2022 BRIX ran at an almost undetectable sound level below 20dB, and that low noise level is maintained even when running heavy workloads.” Furthermore, for an elevated performance, one can up the game with the help of boost mode with a TDP up to 45W, and it still manages to keep the noise level under 35dB.

Slim and Tall- Powerful Nonetheless

The Brit Extreme is available in two variants—a Slim version and a Tall version. Although both options come in different sizes, the Tall version can be customized for storage and can accommodate a 2.5-inch SSD or HDD. An upgrade kit features an I/O expander that can enable a second LAN connection, a RS232 communication port, and a M.2 2280 slot. The different options in the I/O outputs offer a range of possibilities.

Price and Release Date

It also comes with an integrated Intel Iris Xe GPU with 96 execution units that is ideal for supporting richer gaming experiences, providing maximum speed and enabling content creation. As a result of the massive 96EUs, users can effortlessly play the latest DirectX12 Ultimate games. The Brix extreme also houses a hydro-cooling system that keeps the mini-PC cool despite heavy workloads.

Gigabyte’s exclusive Ultra Durable technology ensures that there is no compromise on high performance and functionalities while providing the best power delivery. It has also passed strict verifications as testament to its capability.

The 2022 BRIX Extreme will be released in the second quarter of 2022. The tech company has not mentioned the price for its New Brix Extreme Mini-PC. It is expected that detailed information will be revealed after some time.
