Backup procedures of Apple Watch band are somewhat trickier in comparison to the iPhone backups. It is because the upgrades happen automatically and are immediately saved on the iPhone with which the Apple Watch is paired. However, there is no place in the Settings section where a user can manually back up the Apple Watch or see details about the last automatic backup. In such a case, it becomes difficult for the user to relate to the new features.
How to upgrade to a new Apple Watch
Procedure 1 To Enhance Apple Watch
- If a person is also upgrading to a new iPhone, it is essential to set that up first.
- Conduct a fresh backup of the iPhone with the iCloud or iTunes service.
- Open the Watch app located on the iPhone to initiate the pairing process.
- Power on the new Apple Watch and scrutinize for the pairing sphere code. Once you get it, follow the prompts.
- When prompted, choose to ‘restore’ the new Apple Watch from a backup time and select the most recent one.
- If no backup shows in the most recent iPhone backup list, follow procedure 2.
If the Apple Watch is updated and not the iPhone, users can choose to unpair the Apple smart watch and Apple watch accessories from the iPhone and pair the new one. One can also pair the new watch as a second Apple Watch with the iPhone.
Procedure 2 To Update Your Apple Watch
As the Apple Watch backup doesn’t happen simultaneously with every iCloud or iTunes backup with the iPhone, one may want to force an Apple Watch backup immediately.
- Keep the paired Apple smart Watch, and current iPhone close together.
- Open the Watch app located on the iPhone.
- Tap the smart watch at the top, then tap select the “i” on the right side
- Tap ‘Unpair Apple Watch’ (the Apple Smart watch will conduct a fresh backup to the iPhone during the unpairing process)
- Follow the prompts to unpair the current smart Watch.
- Open the Watch app located on the iPhone to initiate the pairing process.
- Power on the new Apple smart watch and look for the pairing sphere code. Once that is found, follow the prompts.
- When prompted, choose the restore the new Apple Watch from a backup and select the most recent backup.
One can also select the “Pair New Watch” button if they want to add the new Apple smart Watch as a secondary one as opposed to having only one paired Apple smart watch case.
