IBM has launched three new AI products across its enterprise platforms that help in cloud app migration, automate work in business tools, and curate data cost-effectively at its recently held Think conference.
An IBM research says that almost a third of businesses are using some form of AI and machine learning. By 2027, the global AI market is expected to be worth $733.7 billion, according to Grand View Research. The challenges to wider adoption are a lack of skillsets and the increasing complexity of data.
IBM’s app and integration middleware enable apps to run on cloud using Red Hat OpenShift. The average cloud budget among corporates has gone up to $2.2 million from $1.62 million in 2016. However, security concerns are still hurdles to the wider use of the cloud for data storage and enterprise platforms.
“As IT complexity grows with increased adoption of hybrid cloud, enterprises are looking to bring in the power of AI to transform how they develop, deploy, and operate their IT,” IBM wrote in a blog post. “A significant challenge CIOs face is that many of their core applications were written for an on-premises world, and they can have hundreds to thousands of legacy applications that need to be modernized and moved to the cloud.”
Watson Orchestrate facilitates faster operations for workers across sales, human resources, operations, and more. It integrates with existing enterprise systems to schedule tasks.
A McKinsey report put automation and digitization as the top priority of most executives. A Forrester report predicts 57% of businesses will invest in automation tools. Salesforce, a leader in automation tools, predicts the market to grow to $13.4 billion by 2025.
Watson Orchestrate uses natural language software to automatically perform a given task by connecting with apps, tools, and data. It uses collaboration tools such as Slack, Salesforce, SAP, and email to set up and execute tasks. Workers can quickly perform routine tasks, such as scheduling meetings or procuring approvals, or more mission-critical tasks, like preparing proposals or business plans, set up meetings, send progress emails and even send updates regarding customer behavior and needs based on customer interactions and history.
According to IBM 80% of companies already use automation tools or plant to incorporate one within the next year.
Cloud Pak for Data was launched by IBM three years ago as a way to apply AI to data across hybrid cloud environments. This has been updated to include AutoSQL for better access, integration, and management of data. It can run seamlessly across any hybrid multi-cloud environment – including private clouds, on-premises, and any public cloud.
AutoSQL leverages AI to facilitate better data management across environments. It aims to ensure secure data access at 8x faster rate.
“Data quality and integration become major issues when pulling from multiple cloud environments,” IBM wrote in a blog post. “With the new data fabric and AI capabilities, [we’re] delivering what we expect to be a significant differentiator for customers by completely automating the data and AI lifecycle — the potential to free up time, money, and resources — and connect the right data to the right people at the right time, while conserving resources.”
