Is The Shift Towards AI Wearables Worth It?

AI is reshaping wearable technology as companies race to launch intelligent, screenless devices. From CES 2026 highlights to Futurewave’s ÖFY and Apple rumors, this article explores...

Artificial Intelligence is becoming the soul of wearable technologies. Wearable companies are focused on developing AI-integrated wearables that blend into our daily lives. From OpenAI’s first wearable device to Apple’s AI wearable, the industry is buzzing with AI competition, and every company is in a race to be ahead.

CES 2026 was all about extravagant gadgets, big screens, well-designed and AI-integrated products. However, there were a few products that remained screenless, subtle, and still had a lot to offer. One of those products is ÖFY, an AI wearable clip developed by Futurewave, a design and engineering studio based in Belgium.

Another AI Wearable Entering the Market

ÖFY is a screenless AI magnetic clip that can be worn on clothes, phones, and bags. This device consists of a microphone that records audio conversations and uses them to make notes and delegate tasks to other digital devices. The company is marketing the device to position it as an AI-integrated wearable that blends with your daily live not an assistant.

In an official statement, the design studio said, “Tech companies build AI wearables by adding features until something ships, but design studios build by subtracting until only the essential remains.”

Could Apple’s AI Wearable Overshadow ÖFY?

Although there are no official announcements for Apple’s AI pin, the market is buzzing with rumors of an upcoming wearable AI. This device is expected to have a microphone, a camera, and speakers, which will record everything happening in your surroundings for future reminders and a digital tools assistant.

Futurewave’s ÖFY has already launched in the market, running on the same track with just microphones. There are high chances that this device can easily be sidelined with Apple’s product launch. If ÖFY positions itself in the market as a daily-use wearable, then the outcome can be really different.

Is AI the Next Big Leap for Wearable Technology?

Wearable companies are rushing towards AI-integrated devices to create a product that keeps records of your daily life. While it sounds productive and profitable, it can be a scary shift towards AI dependence. There is no doubt that we still use AI and other technologies daily, but we aren’t dependenton them for sure. They were like occasional helping hands.

But once they become part of you as an individual, there are high risks of dependency, which allows devices to break the wall of privacy. While companies are in high competition to launch advanced features, our privacy safety is getting sidelined. AI is advancing, and so is the need for better privacy features.
