Microsoft Corp. on August 6 evening officially announced partnership with Disney’s Movies Anywhere to get access to its library of movies on the Movies & TV app for Xbox and Windows 10 devices. The news leaked out on Monday morning itself when Movies & TV logo was seen on Movies Anywhere’s website.
To get access to the online movie service, the users simply need to sync their Microsoft accounts with Movies Anywhere account and that’s it. The Microsoft account holders are all set to watch eligible movies on the Movies & TV app purchased either from the company’s interface or any other participating Digital retailers of Movies Anywhere.
“With Movies Anywhere, all of your eligible movies from Microsoft can be enjoyed across your favorite screens at no extra cost. Microsoft Movies & TV allows you to watch the newest movies across your favorite devices — like Xbox — before streaming services or disc, and without subscription or membership fees,” stated Pedro Gutierrez, Director, Movies & TV, Microsoft.
Movies Anywhere: A Cross-platform App
The Movies Anywhere was launched last October under the hood of The Walt Disney Company. It is a simple cross-platform app that facilitates viewers to access their digital movies content at home or during traveling. It also owns a stock of over 7,500 digital movies for rent and purchase.
This app acts like a storehouse of movies one purchases from select digital distribution platform including Amazon Prime, Google Play, Vudu, FandangoNow, and iTunes. Besides this, this app is compatible with almost all kinds of devices.
The viewers can also stream movies on their choice of screens including Xbox and Windows, and other Movies Anywhere partners including iOS and Android devices; smart TVs; streaming devices like Roku; Chromecast and Amazon Fire devices and other browsers.
Irresistible Offer To Celebrate New Partnership
Obtaining an easy access to this app, Microsoft users will now be able to watch a series of digital movies from Hollywood’s big studios like Sony Pictures Entertainment, Twentieth Century Fox Film, Universal, The Walt Disney Studios and Warner Bros.
“Movies Anywhere brings your movie collection together quickly and easily, and we’re thrilled to share this benefit with Microsoft customers,” said Karin Gilford, General Manager, Movies Anywhere.
“Since our launch just nine months ago, consumers have stored more than 135 million movies on our app, and both content and quality continue to grow with the onboarding of new retailers like Microsoft,” he added.
The new alliance has launched two tempting time-bound offers to mark their new beginning.
Firstly, Movies Anywhere subscribers will get an exclusive preview of “Deadpool 2” as a bonus feature. In addition, it will also broadcast a behind-the-scenes bonus clip from a feature titled “Until Your Face Hurts: Alt Takes”.
The Disney’s company further announced that anyone who connects their Microsoft account or that of another partner Digital retailer with Movies Anywhere app will receive HD copy of “X-Men: Days of Future Past” in their digital movies library.
