Motorola Two AI Focused Releases

Motorola announced two AI-focused projects. Qira, that is a unified AI platform merging Lenovo and Motorola’s existing AI work into a single cross-device solution. Till now Motorola and Lenovo had separate AI assistants. Lenovo had AI Now and Motorola had moto AI. Because of this user were unable to carry the context, chats, or personalisation instructions over from a laptop to a smartphone.

With Qira this problem will no longer be there as it becomes a sole AI platform between the two brands. Qira also makes sure that users get a consistent experience across the Lenovo-Motorola ecosystem.

Unified AI Platform Partnership Across Industries

Qira is said to leverage partnerships with major industry technologies, like Microsoft Copilot, Google, Qualcomm, Intel and Perplexity AI, bringing a mix of on-device and cloud-assisted capabilities together. Qira is designed in such a way that it can remember context, for e.g. when a user left off on a task, anticipate user needs, and respond in more fluid ways than existing, siloed assistants.

Motorola’s Project Maxwell

A prototype called Project Maxwell was also showcased by Motorola that marks its entry into the AI wearable space. Motorola’s Project Maxwell is AI Perceptive Companion, which as per the company is a a proof-of-concept wearable built to extend Qira’s intelligence into the everyday life without the need of a phone.

Developed by Motorola’s 312 Labs team this prototype device, is designed to give all time accessibility, be context-aware, combine camera, microphone and sensor inputs to perceive what’s happening around the user and give real-time insights or any suggestions if needed.

Project Maxwell’s design can simultaneously process and merge visual and audio data using the microphone and camera. Users can provide instructions through a natural language prompt, and with context-aware capabilities it will respond to queries and also take action based on the instructions provided by the user. Though it is still not a production-ready product but seems very innovative, and Motorola has not given any specific launch date.
