Billionaire Elon Musk claimed that the implantable computer interface Neuralink would be competent to stream music directly into a person’s brain. He discussed the new technology on Twitter with a user during an exchange, after he tweeted that he was looking to recruit engineers for the project mentioned above. The interface would be useful to help treat brain disorders like Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease.

“If you’ve solved hard problems with phones or wearables (like sealing, signal processing, inductive charging, power mgmt), please consider working at Neuralink,” Musk tweeted Friday. “Solving high-volume, high-reliability, low-cost production problems are especially valued.”

Neurolink By Elon Musk

During a live stream presentation conducted in 2019, Elon Musk stated that Neuralink would implant flexible threads of electrodes into the human brain, which are used to pick up direct signals from neurons and wirelessly transmit them to a computer located nearby. The process would be similar to the LASIK procedure, where a laser will create a tiny hole in the skull to effectively implant the electrodes. Musk believes that Neuralink technology will eventually help in detecting and treating brain disorders like Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and dementia. He said that innovative technology is also essential for the human race’s fusion with artificial intelligence.

Elon Musk answered several questions from multiple users on Twitter. He was also asked if Neuralink could “help control hormone levels and use them to our advantage, stop rapid firing, when needed, in neural networks, for patients with OCD and stimulate the release of oxytocin, serotonin, and other chemicals when needed.” Musk responded to every question with a simple “yes.”

In May, Musk told Joe Rogan Experience podcast that he believes that interface Neuralink could be implemented within a year. Earlier in July, he tweeted that there would be an update on Neuralink’s progress by August 28.

About Neuralink – Elon Musk Brain Chip

Neuralink is an American neuro-technology corporation founded by Elon Musk and co-founders. The company develops implantable brain-machine interfaces. The company, started in the year 2016, has its headquarters in San Francisco and was first publicly reported in March 2017. Since its founding, Neuralink has hired several high-profile neuroscientists from across different universities.

By July 2019, the company received $158 million in funding and was employed a total of 90 employees. Neuralink at that time announced that it was working on a “sewing machine-like” device capable of implanting thin threads into the brain, and also demonstrated a system that can read information from a lab rat via 1,500 electrodes. The company anticipated starting experiments with humans this year.
