The POCO X4 Pro 5G and the M4 Pro 5G are all around aces that get their camera and charging just right. Unveiled at the Mobile World Congress 2022 in Barcelona, both the Poco X4 Pro 5G and Poco M4 Pro have AMOLED displays.

The Chinese smartphone company announced two new budget smartphones that are set to rival similar feature-packing counterparts. The POCO brand was first introduced in 2018 as a mid-range affordable smartphone line under Xiaomi.  Today, the brand enjoys a robust, growing customer base across the world.

The POCO X4 Pro 5G

The POCO X4 Pro 5G specifications are a mix of good software upgrades and decent hardware.

The POCO X4 Pro 5G was unveiled at the MWC 2022.

Display 

The POCO X4 Pro 5G has a 6.67-inch FHD and AMOLED display with a 2400×1080 resolution. It reaches a peak brightness of 1200 nits and has a 4,500,000:1 contrast ratio. 

It comes with a 120Hz refresh rate that provides a uniquely smooth and fluid experience, whether one is simply browsing or playing a game. The 360Hz touch sampling rate reduces touch latency, and responds to every touch and action instantly. 

The POCO X4 Pro 5G is smart enough to adjust its brightness depending on the environment. Bright light, low light, and even a backlit environment does not deter it from making subtle changes that will help reduce eye fatigue and help one perform tasks in utmost comfort. It boasts a Reading Mode 3.0, Sunlight Display, and an SGS Eye Care display Certification, which attests to the fact that it reduces harmful blue-light emissions and offers high eye protection. 

Processor 

The Snapdragon 5G processor ensures energy efficiency without compromising on  superior performance. Supporting a maximum download speed of 2.5Gbps, it is compatible with most 5G brands and works on both NSA and SA networking modes. 

Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 695 infuses it with unrivaled power that equips it to handle everything from AI apps to games. It is paired with up to 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 256GB ROM of UFS 2.2 storage. The Arm Cortex-A78 CPU delivers premium performance and redefines the user experience. 

A large LiquidCool copper pipe and multiple layers of graphite sheets keep the device cool while allowing it to perform optimally without a hitch. The phone weighs approximately 205g and is extremely sleek at 8.12mm. It has a width of 76.1mm and is 164.19mm tall. 

Camera

A 108MP sensor with triple-lens empowers  the phone to deliver photographs rich in detail with laser-sharp focus. It also has an 8MP ultra-wide shooter and a 2MP macro lens. A dual native ISO provides high sensitivity and less noise. The nine-in-one pixel binning is primed to deliver stunning photographs that will help one cherish beautiful memories. The front camera is made of a 16MP sensor with a f/2.4 aperture, giving room for a more cinematic look and feel.

Battery

The 67W turbocharger and the 5000mAh battery work together to ensure that the phone reaches  100% charge in approximately 41 minutes. The phone is charged over 70% in under 22 minutes. POCO claims that the phone is capable of meeting one’s entertainment needs as it delivers over 15 hours of video playback. 

Ports

On the sides, it houses an IR blaster, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Dual speakers lead the way towards an immersive experience, creating a refined and a ayered sound field.

A Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection ensures that it is virtually shatter-proof while protecting it from scratches and everyday mishandling. The POCO X4 Pro will be available in Laser Black, POCO Yellow, and Laser Blue colors.

Most experts are of the opinion that the POCO M4 Pro 5G provides value entertainment and is quite similar to the Redmi Note 11 series, as they feature the same hardware.

Display

POCO M4 is the first smartphone in the M-series to have a 6.43-inch full HD plus AMOLED display with a 1080×2400 pixel resolution. The display reaches a peak brightness level of 1000 nits. The octa core CPU, along with the Mali G57 MC2 GPU, offers a stellar performance. Its refresh rate is 90Hz while the touch sampling rate is 180Hz. 

Eye protection is a serious concern and the POCO M4 is certified with SGS Eye Care Display and the SGS Seamless Display.

It has dual SIM connectivity and supports 4G based on local operators. The dimensions for the POCO M4 include a height of 159.87mm, width of 73.87mm, thickness of 8.09mm, and weights approximately 197.5 g. 

Camera

Just like its sibling, POCO M4 features a triple rear camera setup with a 64MP main sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide lens, and a 2MP macro camera. Powered by AI, it is capable of HDR, night, pro photo, macro, and portrait modes. The front camera has a 16MP sensor and is ideal for clicking selfies as it has numerous beauty and movie filters, and Bokeh and depth control.

An AI-powered Face Unlock feature is also built in for added security. For fast data transfers at work and at home, one can utilize the 802.11ac and Bluetooth 5.0.

Battery

A 5000mAh battery, supported by a 33W pro fast charger, makes it easy to have super-high charging efficiency that allows the user to enjoy close to two hours of video playback with just 10 minutes of charging.  It can go from 0 to 100% charge in just an hour and can last nearly two days before it needs to be recharged.

Ports

The POCO M4 has a 3.5 mm headphone jack, an IR blaster, and NFC. The fingerprint reader is on the side. Audio is taken care of with dual speakers and the phone has a high-res audio certification to boot. The sensors for POCO M4 include the proximity sensor, ambient light sensor, gyroscope, accelerometer, electronic compass, and an IR blaster.

The POCO M4 is set to be one’s top partner for fun with colors like Cool Blue, Power Black, and POCO Yellow.

Software

With regard to the software, both the X4 Pro 5G and M4 Pro run MIUI 13 for POCO, based on Android 11. Both phones have the Z-axis linear vibration motor, which means nobody will miss a notification even when it is put on silent mode.

Availability & Price

The X4 Pro 5G will be available across Europe from March 2 in two configurations—6/128 GB for around €269 (approximately $335)and 8/256 GB for €319  (approximately $390). The dual-SIM phone houses a hybrid slot, which allows a user to insert a microSD card in case they do not use a secondary SIM card.  

The POCO M4 variant will be available at an early bird price of just €199 ( (approximately $235) for the 6GB/128GB version and €249 (approximately $300) for the 8GB/256GB version on the same date in the same region.
