While Apple is developing an AI wearable to be at the top of AI-integrated hardware competitions. One of Apple’s former employees has already launched a smart pendant that works like an AI wearable, solving the major privacy issue. Privacy was a major concern of every expert since the announcement of AI wearables, but this smart pendant has paved the way for safe and advanced wearable technology.
A smart technology startup has launched a Taya necklace, now available for pre-order on the company’s website. The pendant is designed to be an audio note maker for its users, entering the global market. The device doesn’t seem too pricey at the cost of $89, blending both fashion and technology.
Taya Necklace: Technology Prioritising Privacy
Taya necklace will work as a note maker, which remains off in its default state. The device has a button system and only activates when turned on. Unlike any other AI-integrated wearable with a microphone, Taya only records its user’s voice, discarding any other sound that does not match the owner. To start recording, users will have to tap on the pendant and follow a similar approach to stop.
While many devices get confused between voices and tend to pick up other people’s sounds. This necklace has advanced hardware that features a directional microphone and speaker verification system that is diligently trained with the user’s voice. A directional microphone provides a huge advantage to the device by allowing AI to prioritize the user’s voice and minimize any risk of noise and bystanders’ voices.

Even with advanced technology, the company is marketing the device as jewelry first, which can be used for enhancing productivity. Elena Wagenmans, founder of Taya, wants people to wear the necklace as jewelry and find it attractive even without its technical ability.
Future of Smart Jewelry
Why does Taya’s founder want users to buy the device as jewelry? Does it hint towards the slow growth of the smart necklace market? While companies are innovating devices like smart earrings, pendants, bracelets, and more. Market and consumers are not giving the response and attention required to make these devices mainstream as smart rings. Smart rings contribute to more than 50% of the smart jewelry market, signaling towards mediocre performance of other devices around the world.
Smart jewelry is advancing rapidly and providing much-needed features. However, customers are still adapting to the significantly advancing technology. However, smart jewelry design is also one of the major concerns behind its slow market performance.
