After tagging the Galaxy S24 as the “smartest AI phone ever,” Samsung just announced its new line of PCs, calling the Samsung Galaxy Book4 series its most intelligent PC lineup yet. The new Galaxy Book4 series from the Korean company consists of 3 new devices—the Galaxy Book4 Ultra, Galaxy Book4 Pro, and the Galaxy Book4 Pro 360. Featuring new Intel Core Ultra processors, the Intel Core Ultra 9, the series promises a much faster central processing unit (CPU), high-performance graphics processing unit (GPU) and a brand new neural processing unit (NPU) that should be the true deciding factor on how intelligent this PC actually is. While the Galaxy Book4 specifications are interesting to look forward to, the device will only be available in Korea starting in January 2024; global release dates remain unconfirmed.

“Samsung is committed to empowering people to experience new possibilities that enhance their everyday lives. This new paradigm can be achieved through our expansive Galaxy ecosystem and open collaboration with other industry leaders”

It seems AI-centered releases are all we will see for a while as companies appear to be actively competing to be the top provider of generative artificial intelligence to users. The Samsung Galaxy Book4 series appears to be centering its promotions around the Intel Core Ultra processors that were officially released on 14 December 2023. The device comes paired with Intel’s AI PC Acceleration program, which connects independent hardware vendors (IHVs) and independent software vendors (ISVs) with Intel’s resources, ensuring that AI can be optimized on the devices to their full potential.

Apart from the Intel Core Ultra processors, the Galaxy Book4 specifications also include the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Laptop GPU that can support AI tools on the device with ease and provide a top-notch gaming experience. The GPU guarantees RTX-optimized Stable Diffusion for image generation and NVIDIA Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) technology for “higher quality images for over 500 ray-traced popular games and applications.”

The Galaxy Book4 specifications also boast new and improved cooling systems and power-efficient charging hardware. The 11 percent wider vapor chamber and the dual fan system should ensure a cooler device with reduced noise even under intense use. Fast charging is more a smartphone concept but the Samsung Galaxy Book4 Ultra is reported to have an additional 55 percent battery life in 30 minutes, with the 140W adaptor. Security also has been prioritized, with the Samsung Knox security chip enhancing the protection the Intel and Microsoft services provide. All three devices should come with touch-capable AMOLED 2x displays, an HDMI 2.1 port, and Thunderbolt 4 ports for ease of use and connectivity between devices.

Will the AI capabilities really be worth all the excitement? Only time will tell.
