Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra and S23 Ultra: Display

The Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra boasts of a 6.8-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 3088 x 1440 pixels. It supports an adaptable refresh rate of up to 120Hz and can light up to a peak brightness of 1750 nits. To add to its premium design, the S22 Ultra’s display also features curved edges. The latest Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra consists of the same 6.8-inch display with a resolution of 3088 x 1440 pixels and an adaptable refresh rate of 120Hz, just like its predecessor. Albeit, it delivers more stunning visual quality. The peak brightness remains untouched at 1750 nits, slightly lower than the 2000 nits achieved by the Apple iPhone 14 Pro in 2022.

Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra and S23 Ultra: Design and Dimensions

The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra maintains a similar design to its predecessor, with slightly reduced curved edges to maximize screen real estate. Featuring a premium build with rounded edges, the rear camera lenses are positioned in the top left corner.

Like the S22 Ultra, the S23 Ultra includes a built-in S Pen, maintaining its role as the successor to the Galaxy Note series. Furthermore, both devices offer IP68 water and dust resistance.

The devices feature a centrally positioned punch-hole camera on the front and an in-display fingerprint sensor. While most changes between the two models are internal rather than external, it does not diminish the excellent build quality of either device.

The Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. In contrast, the S23 Ultra exclusively runs on Qualcomm’s latest chip, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.

The S23 Ultra is available with a choice of 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, or 12GB of RAM and 512GB or 1TB of storage. In comparison, the S22 Ultra offers 8GB of RAM with 128GB of storage or 12GB of RAM with options for 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB of storage. The two devices harness a 5000mAh battery, ensuring similar battery performance. The S22 Ultra supports 45W fast charging and 15W wireless charging, and these capabilities remain unchanged in the S23 Ultra. While faster charging speeds would be desirable, the battery performance on both models is generally satisfactory.
