The First AI Built Exclusively for Women’s Health

Oura introduces a women-centric AI model trained by medical experts to reduce bias and misinformation in healthcare. Using live biometric data, the model aims to deliver...

Recently, several Large Language Models have entered the market with excellence in different fields and serve several purposes. While all the AI models are created to help their users with research, learning, editing, and other tasks, many of them lack credibility and authenticity. Most AI models extract information present online, which can easily be manipulated and fabricated, increasing the risk of misuse and wrong information.

Additionally, models become biased or even perform illegal tasks as the internet is filled with all types of content. Women have been targets of online bias and bullying. Recently, users were creating nude images of women with the image editing feature of Grok. These incidents push us to think hard and improve the Large Language Models.

Oura to Introduce First Women-Health Focused AI Model

Breaking the chain of misinformation and misuse, Oura has launched its first proprietary Large Language Model, which is designed especially for women’s health. The new model will power the existing Oura Advisor model, shifting it towards medical companionship. The new model is currently under test in Oura Labs to authenticate the credibility and reliability.

While other platforms like ChatGPT, Gemini, and Grok gather data from the web without any proper verification. Oura’s model will be versed in medical and research standards, trained by in-house clinicians and gynaecologists. The company’s priority is to maintain the privacy of users and provide credible information, reducing the risk of major complications.

New Era of Women-Centric AI in Healthcare

The best part about this model will be its approach towards empathetic communication to bridge the gap between data and real-life experiences. The company has designed the model to interpret the user’s “live health data,” which will include more than 50 biometric markers like sleep patterns, body temperature, HRV, and more. All this data will be collected considering the female physiology to minimize any kind of generalization or error.

Oura AI model will not only provide universal or generic answers, but it will also link users’ health vitals and routine to find the reason behind symptoms. All medical conditions have rare cases, and when it comes to women’s health, there have been medical biases for decades. This feature will help users to get more credible answers, unlike generalised statements of AI chatbots

This can be an important step towards the introduction of empathy and personalised experience in AI models. While the company claims to do something unique, it will be great to see the implementation with the same enthusiasm and authenticity.
