Verizon Wireless on Tuesday announced it is launching “the world’s first commercial 5G broadband internet service”, dubbed Verizon 5G Home on October 1, 2018. The revolutionary 5G internet service will be available in certain parts of Houston, Indianapolis, Los Angeles and Sacramento at the initial stage.

The wireless telecommunication company further committed to roll-out the 5G broadband connectivity for consumers in more areas soon. Verizon is also expecting to be the first to introduce 5G mobile service.

It further noted that for three years the company was trying to build a strong 5G ecosystem. Along with its in-house 5G Technology Forum and 5G Labs, Verizon collaborated with international regulatory bodies, network equipment, and the device makers to advance in 5G technology.

Verizon 5G Home Internet – How to Sign Up

Verizon 5G Home service will be available in certain zip codes from September 13, 2018, 8 am onwards. And the “white glove installation” will begin from October 1st for free of cost. Regardless of the location, people living across the USA can sign up for Verizon 5G Home at ‘First on 5G’ website.

For the early members, Verizon is providing the 5G Home service free for the first three months.

While discussing the pricing strategy, Verizon mentioned that the company’s wireless customers will receive the service for $50 per month whereas the non-Verizon can buy the same 5G connectivity at $70 for a month. There is no extra cost for the hardware.

As far as network speed is concerned, the Verizon 5G Home consumers should receive speed between 300 Megabits per second and 1 Gigabit per second and that too, without any data restriction.

“We will deliver a revolutionary 5G experience that will change how people live, work and play,” said Kyle Malady, Verizon CTO.

Verizon Apple TV – Benefits of Being First on 5G Network

In addition, the 5G Home internet subscribers will also get complimentary YouTube TV service for the first three months and thereafter at $40/month. What’s more in the package, during installation you can also choose between a free Apple TV 4K and a free Google Chromecast Ultra device.

The list of freebies does not end here. The wireless telecommunication giant promised a free router and its upgrades due in 2019. Moreover, the ‘First on 5G’ members will also receive an exclusive preview of the 5G mobile devices as soon as they are released in the market.

Verizon 5G Home Architecture

Verizon is also marketing its broadband service to be built on “the world’s first and only 5G Ultra Wideband network” comprising end-to-end fiber connections, a huge base of small cells and industry-best spectrum holdings.

Though Verizon’s 5G commercial service is not the true 5G mobile connectivity that the company promised in December last year, it emphasized that the 5G Home service is constructed on its proprietary 5G TF standard.
