The Yamaha SR-B20A delivers an affordable and reliable option for anyone who prefers effective sound bars.
There are several sound bars are available in the market. However, everyone doesn’t have the capacity to afford expensive sound bars. As such, the new Yamaha sound bars are an efficient choice. The new Yamaha SR-B20A sound bar pledges to offer a 3D sound experience and that too at an affordable price.
Yamaha SR-B20A: Design
Yamaha products always have a separate fan base because of its sleek and modest design. The Yamaha SR-B20A is a slim shaped bar with rounded corners measuring 91 cm wide. The entire sound bar is covered with a speaker fabric of black colour that makes it look very unobtrusive on the TV cabinet. This model is a well finished sound bar that also comes in white colour. The white sound bar would appear extremely sleek if mounted on a bright wall and looks great when hanged up. You can easily hang it up by inserting just a few screws inside the wall. When the sound bar is placed on a table or any furniture piece, you can detect its active mode by the few LEDs on the sound bar. The LEDs also highlight the volume levels and the sound modes of the bars. One can also switch off the LEDs completely.
From the view of mounted position, the Yamaha sound bar features two bass drivers of 75mm each and two midrange drivers of 55mm. Each of these drivers fit on both the ends of the soundbar. It also features two tweeters of 25mm each that are placed downwards. When viewed from the sitting position, these tweeters would face the front and the fours drivers would face upwards.
Yamaha SR-B20A: Features
Yamaha has a number of excellent features when it comes to their sound bars. The brand products have the potential to deliver 3D sound. Even though it isn’t expensive or big, yet this SR-B20A soundbar is verified as a “Dolby Audio” soundbar. The SR-B20A has the power and expertise to offer DTS Virtual: X soundtracks. It can be connected with digital optical sockets, HDMI cable and via Bluetooth 5.0. The Bluetooth is helpful in using the sound bar as a music player too. It is equipped with a remote control handset and a Soundbar Remote app that helps with various functions such as input selection, EQ presets, volume control and various audio options. Additionally, the SR-B20A features a brief display too with touch control options.
Audio performance
This soundbar delivers quite dynamic and full scale sound. Any track played on the soundbar with the standard EQ preset offers great focus, poise and balance to the sound. Using the sound bar with movie preset offers much expansive, yet less focused sound. However, the setting of ‘3D surround’ makes the Yamaha SR-B20A a worth buy. The level of detailing in the midrange drivers helps to make dialogue sharp and clear. The top end of the soundbar has sufficient material to avoid any high note sound to turn spiky.
When it only comes to streaming songs, the Yamaha SE-B20A can be easily connected via Bluetooth. The striking part about the sound bar is that it doesn’t deliver detailed basses. With jazz songs playlist, all frequencies are not represented properly, however with a playlist of rock songs the bars show less issues. Songs can also be streamed using the bass slider to deliver a better sound balance.
Yamaha SR-B20A: Pros
- Reasonable price
- 3D Surround setting works fine
- Can be connected via Bluetooth 5.0 and HDMI cable
- Delivers solid bass
- Sleek design
Yamaha SR-B20A: Cons
- Not highly musical
- Less effective for huge living rooms
- No Wi-Fi
The Yamaha SR-B20A is perfect as a low budget option. The mode of ‘3D Surround’ does a good job if placed on a table. And if the soundbar is mounted against the wall, the movie mode becomes a good option. It delivers clear dialogues and is designed in a way to make movies or other streaming services more enveloping.
